Jenna Smith is a second year MFA candidate at University of New Hampshire with a painting focus. Originally from Belleville, IL in the greater St. Louis area, Jenna received her BFA in painting from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUE). Her work has been exhibited in the St. Louis and New England areas. Jenna’s inspiration for her current landscape work comes from places she discovers at night from driving around in her car or walking alone. In some cases, small paintings take place in the front seat of her car with no one else around. She enjoys the mysterious qualities that come with painting at night and lets the vulnerability of being alone drive her work.
After graduation in May 2019, Jenna wants to pursue a career in teaching and continue to make work.
